Supertyphoon Juan devastates Northern Luzon
HAVING developed into a supertyphoon just before smacking into Isabela, Typhoon Juan (international name Megi) forced provincial officials on Monday to declare a state of calamity within three hours of landfall when it toppled power lines and trees, flooded large areas including farms, destroyed mobile phone repeaters, and blocked roads with landslides cutting off towns and cities from each other.
